CO-PRESIDENT

Mary Nesmith is mom to Ravi (7th Grade) and Rohan (2nd Grade). As a product of Portland Public Schools and someone who also works in our schools she knows how important it is to the success of kids to have their families involved at school and she’s grateful to have a community of Bulldogs to represent! As a NEP native she is proud of our school and community and excited to show you that the PTA at Faubion is far beyond the stereotypical mold of a 'PTA'. This year she’s excited to continue to bridge our relationship in our wider school community and to get more Middle School families involved in school wide events!

CO-PRESIDENT

Elizabeth Doerr is mom to Finch (second grade) and feels so lucky to be a part of the Faubion community. She is passionate about social and racial justice and is very politically active. Elizabeth is also a co-founder of Families for Equity in Schools and hopes to find ways for the Faubion Community PTA to participate actively in advocacy or fully-funded Oregon schools.

Elizabeth is also really excited to bring her experience organizing around the integrated schools model (www.integratedschools.org) to Faubion.

CO-VICE PRESIDENT

Serena is in her 19th year teaching, her 10th at Faubion and has mostly taught Kinder and 1st Grade. She currently teachers 1st grade at Faubion. Serena is born and raised in Portland just a few blocks from Faubion! She still lives in the neighborhood with her husband, Logan, and our three children, Miles (11), Simone (10) and Ellington (7) --- and she and her husband are huge jazz fans. In her free time she loves spending time with my family/friends and visiting the Oregon Coast.

CO-VICE PRESIDENT

Erica teaches 3rd grade at Faubion. She is so excited to be a part of the PTA in a different way this year (her third on the board!). She knew when she stepped into Faubion School Spring of 2012, that she was at home. She has loved being a part of this school community, it means the world to her. She lives in NE Portland with her husband, Phillip, and her three children Sebastian (19), Talan (18), and Mia (9). They love traveling and taking summer camping trips in the PNW!

CO-COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Mi’Keyta Bates is mom of Amillia (1st Grade) and daughter of Mr. Miller. As a single mom, she is passionate about ensuring every child receives the best public school experience possible. She would like to advocate for inclusion and initiatives that support both students and parents. She believes that with community and collaboration we can create a nurturing environment to thrive, academically, socially, and emotionally.

Mi’Keyta is someone that enjoys seeing beautiful smiles when entering any room and looks forward to “living the party” of all of our future family and community engagements.

CO-COMMUICATIONS COORDINATOR

Leigh Darrah is the mom of Samson (6th grade) and Ace (1st grade). Leigh is excited to combine several of her passions in this PTA role – public education, diversity, and communications. As a member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, Leigh is eager to promote culture and diversity whenever she can. Leigh has worked in internal communications for almost two decades, and she's dedicated to bridging the communication gap. Her goal is to provide clear and consistent communication related to all things Faubion, thus bringing the community closer.

In her spare time, Leigh enjoys hiking, biking, reading, traveling, watching sports (Go, Green Bay Packers), and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her family. Say hi if you see her out and about – she loves making new friends!

TREASURER

Spenser is excited to serve his first year on the PTA and support the Faubion community by fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. He is passionate about empowering students to become leaders for a more socially just world. A NE Portland native, Spenser returned home in 2022 with his wife, Rebecca, and their two children, James (6) and Elina (2). He enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and evening walks around Concordia with the family dog, Luna.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL COORDINATOR / AT-LARGE PTA BOARD MEMBER

Christina Gomez is thrilled to be part of the Faubion community. She and her family moved to Portland from Brooklyn, NY in 2019, and found a welcoming community here. She has two wonderful kids in 3rd and 7th grade at Faubion. Her passion for education started in public school, where she discovered a love for learning and all the positive experiences it brings. She's enthusiastic about the outdoors, exploring new cuisines, emoji hearts and anything related to the arts. She's dedicated to advocating for our students and families and making this school year a fantastic experience for everyone.
